The radiogram is in a large dark wooden cabinet, has all its original components, valves and knobs, but might have been slightly modified by its previous owner (mains aerial added). The record turntable is a Garrard model, but is not an autochanger. The set is in good condition, with no sign of woodworm, physical damage or other deterioration, except for some kind of light white growth on the back, which could easily be cleaned off. All offers welcome. For pictures of the set or further information please email me.Ad No.: 1381 - Subject: Radios - Posted on: 03/16/01

A friend has just brought around two classic 'deco' radios from the 1930s. She was clearing up her mother's home and asked me if they were worth anything. I suggested that these were both popular radios and would sell for up to 400 pounds 'retail'.
The Pye 'Sunrise' is a model 'Q' in a solid walnut cabinet and is an excellent original cosmetic condition, with good original finish. The aesthetic appearance of this deco classic from 1931 acnnot be faulted.
The Ferranti is a striking bakelite 'tombstone' and is a mains version of the 'Parva' All Wave Straight 3 AC Consolette, manufactured in 1936. It is the earliest example of this style by Ferranti, and is much much rarer than the well-known Model 145. It is in very good, if rather grubby, condition. The radio has NO cracks, chips or repairs. It has a mother-of-pearl dial and thick woven speaker cloth, both in excellent. Everything is original, including the chrome rings on the knobs. The guts look in good unbutchered shape, but the whole radio will need some cleaning and(simple I think)restoration.
This is a perfect opportunity for a keen collector to acquire at realistic prices. The radios are in Kent. Prices: Pye £95 ($150), Ferranti £145 ($225). Pair £225 ($350)ono.Ad No.: 1374 - Subject: Lumiline End Caps - Lampholders - Posted on: 03/13/01

Recently aqquired an old radiogram, probably pre-war. No external identification, but turntable appears to be a Garrard model, with heavy steel needle stylus. Mounted in a large dark wooden cabinet with two lids side by side on top, one covering the turntable and the other covering the controls. On the front of the cabinet is a single unmarked control knob and a large centally mounted speaker below that. No external logo. Inside the machine was a label, which gave the following information. Manufactured under licence from EMI, Marconi and Hazelpat (never heard of this last company). 5 valve (4.5v standard) Number HH 67285 The set looks to be in workable condition, but might have been modified,as we found handwritten labels attached to the amplifier leads inside the case. We haven't tested it with a power supply yet. We suspect it has had a mains aerial added. The wooden case appears to be lightly covered in a white growth, possibly a mould or fungus, but could probably be cleaned up. Other than that, the set is in fair condition, and has no parts missing. If anyone can help me place a date for this thing, or estimate a price I might expect from a collector/restorer (perhaps I'm being a little optimistic!), I would be grateful. E-mail me please. The thing takes up space and I want to get rid of it, but I want to know more about it first.Ad No.: 1321 - Subject: HIS MASTERS VOICE - Posted on: 02/23/01

Here is a great opportunity to acquire receivers that are rarely, if ever, offered in this country. If you have classic design, crystal sets, early broadcast receivers, or even a very early TV available for trade, please take a little time and send me an email. Loewe OE333 (c1926), Pericaud 3 valve amplifier (c1924), Marconi model 42 (have you ever seen one before?, BSA 4 valve 'Smokers Cabinet' (C1924, in clear perspex cabinet, unreferenced, perhaps unoriginal, but very different), Beco 'Rosebowl' speaker (complete and vgc), various unusual hornspeakers, Philips 2607 Console (bakelite 'waves and stars' grille (c1930), Philco People's Set (almost tortoiseshell cabinet), AWA Radiolette (black with green fret and feet), De Wald 'Harp' (yellow catalin), 'Baby' Addison (yellow/black marbelized catalin), Motorola 'S' Grille (yellow/green catalin), Catiglioni 'Phonola', Excelsior (restored condition, mirror excellent), White Sonorette (the best I've seen), Sonora Excellence 301 'Cadillac', Emerson 'Mickey Mouse' (restored). There are other desirable pieces available (please check Ad Nos 1119, 1060 and 1059 for more. But these only touch the surface). I can be persuaded to sell, please remember my preference is to exchange/trade/swap. Once again, here are the keywords: Ekco, Marconi, BBC transfer, PO Reg number, exposed valves, cat's whisker, coloured (not painted) bakelite, arched top, chrome, mirror, circular rounded, Disney, early novelty'. This may be the most definitive advert ever written in Britain with regards radio collecting. Whilst I am always looking for the best in radios to compliment my collection, happily paying by far the best prices, I have many radios available for trade or sale. Like any collector, I still like to refine upwards. Please take a moment of your time to see a small selection of what I have at the moment... British sets: Ekco (many), GEC Mains 3, GEC 'Handbag', Ferranti 145, Emor Globe, Philips 630, 834, 830, 930, Red KB Toaster, Philco People's Set, Everready 'table', Zetavox, Clarkes cathedral, Clarkes Atlas, Defiant, Pye Sunrise, Milnes chrome grille, Doulton Parrot speaker, Chinese Scribe speaker, Amplion AR19, BTH with perspex doors, Gecophone Screen Grid, various crystal sets and 1920s models. Catalins: Addison A2, Addison A5, Bendix, Crosley Split Grille, De Wald 'Harp', De Wald 502, Emerson 5+1, Emerson Tombstone, Emerson Patriot, Fada Bullet, Motorola S Grille, RCA portable, Sentinel Wavy Grille US bakelites: Fada 845, 263, 254, Detrola Super Pee Wee, Crosley Bullseyes, Emersons (many models, incl 199, U5A, 540), Continental Piano. US classics: Emerson Mickey Mouse, Coke Cooler, Pepsi Cooler, Smokerette, Portobar, Hopalong Cassidy (I also have a watch in original box), Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris, Liberty 'Mirror', many small US woodie Midgets (many Emerson Ingrahams), Emerson 'Pagoda'/ 'Chinese Lacquer'/'Jewel Box'/ 'Wheat', Teakettle, Abbotsware Horse, many cathedrals including Philco, Jackson Bell 'Swan', RCA, GE, Echophone, tiny Detrola Clock cathedral. International classics: Phonola (Castiglioni), AWA Empire State, AWA black with green fret and feet, Radialva, Tesla, Tecalemit, Red Star, Nora bakelite tombstone. The above is just a selection. I have radios available at all levels, some in extraordinary colour combinations or variations. In all I have around 200 radios for you. I also help collectors trace specific 'holy grails'. I am looking for interesting items as well, specifically early wireless, classic design and early novelty, and am more than happy to give you a valuation if there is something you wish to sell. As the most active collector of vintage wireless in Britain, there is little that I will turn my nose up to. I have two Parmeko Ultralinear Audio Output transformers for sale or swap. They are type 5084/12C and cat No.P2642.Both are in excellent condition electrically and cosmetically.
They have an 8000 ohm primary impedance and are designed for use with push-pull EL84's,( 6BQ5's )although they could be used for any other push-pull valve combination with the same output impedance requirements.Secondary impedance is 4 or 15 ohms.
There is a lot of iron in these transformers and they each weigh 1.8 Kgs.
Offers? ( I would consider swapping them for valves, as advertised in the Wanted Section of the notice board.)
